Larry the Kingfisher
Sung to the tune of Man on the Flying Trapeze
He drops through the air with the grace of a nerd.
He plops in the water with no glance backward
For a few moments he's out of my sight
I wonder if Larry has suffered some plight.
He arises from the water with a surprising splash
And he flies toward the sky with his sumptuous catch
His flight is cartoonish as he flies toward the tree
Perky crest on his head and his chunky body
He swoops and he falls and his flight has no grace
He laughs with a chatter as he flies toward his place
Like a big hummingbird he hovers in flight
As he looks for a branch where he might alight
Larry the kingfisher, he is so much fun
He makes us both laugh as we sit in the sun.
